Driving Instructor Training
Have you ever considered becoming a driving instructor?
We currently teach over 260 pupils every week how to drive and there is a big demand for new driving instructors to join the team here at 2nd2None driving school.
This can be a great fun and rewarding career and offers you the opportunity to be your own boss and work the hours you want to. Plus you can easily earn in excess of £500 per week and almost all of your costs after training are tax deductible. You will often get the use of a new dual controlled car and we can help you with arranging hire of such a vehicle through a third party at a very reasonable weekly cost.
To become a driving instructor you need to be at least 21 and held a full UK driving licence for 3.5 years. You are allowed no more than 5 points on your driving licence and your application will be subject to a satisfactory CRB check.
Once you have passed the CRB check you can then apply to qualify as a driving instructor to the DVSA
Once your application has been approved you are free to start your training.
There are three parts to the driving instructor training
- Part 1 consists of a Driving Theory and Hazard perception Test. The test itself cost £83 but the training for the test we will help you with for free.
- Part 2 is an ability of your driving and will last for approximately an hour, this will also include a test of your eyesight and vehicle safety questions. Part 2 costs £111 and training for part two will usuelly require around 10-12 hours of tuition. Our current rate for part 2 training is £30ph pay as you go.
- Part 3, this is the hardest part of your training and this is where you will need to spend the majority of your training time. The part 3 will test your ability to instruct, this will cover such things as
- Core Competencies
- Instructional Techniques
- Instructor Characteristics
The examiner will test these by playing two different roles.
The part 3 exam will cost you £111 and our training for part 3 will be £35ph pay as you go.
Part 1 you can have as many goes at as you like but we aim to get you through this test first time, parts 2 and 3 you are restricted to just 3 attempt at each part and if you do not pass either part you will have to wait until the end of two years from when you first applied to be able to start the process again.
So you can see its very important to make sure you choose the right instructor training provider so you get the very best possible chance of passing all three tests required to become a fully qualified driving instructor.
