Under 17s Driving Lessons

We have had another great day at Henstridge Airfield today with our under 17s driving lessons.

Our three driving instructors James Orgar from Shaftesbury, Steve Ridley from Gillingham and Steven Steele from Yeovil took the young drivers around our off road training area in their driving school cars.

The first three pupils to go where Jordan Mallon 16 from Weymouth, Ben Phizacklea 16 also from Weymouth and James Crabb 13 from Gillingham Dorset. Read on to see how they found their driving experience.

Jordan Mallion

Jordan from Weymouth and turns 17 in September said she had a great time today and really enjoyed being to drive faster using more of the gears along the full length of the runways.

Jordan also loved practicing the Emergency Stop and is looking forward to yet more fun on her next session on June 7th at Weymouth Park and Ride. She has also said she will be encouraging her friends to come along to our under 17s driving sessions in the future.

Ben Phizacklea

Ben had a great time today and really got to grips with his steering technique, Ben also practiced his clutch control and is now a much smoother driver.

Ben is looking forward to his next session at Weymouth Park & Ride next month and wants to practice his bay parking some more.

James Crabb

James from Gillingham in Dorset had a great time today and enjoyed driving the car around our driving course. James cant wait to tell his friends all about it.

The second round of pupils to join the fun at our Under 17s Driving Course were Alesha Hussey 16 from Yeovil, Solomon Chadwick 16 from Shepton Mallet and James Jackson 16 from Shaftesbury.

Alesha really enjoyed learning how to carry out the turn in the road safely and under control. Alesha also spent some time working on her gear changing.

Alesha wants to come again and practice her reversing, she will be telling all her friends about today and encouraging them to come along to our next Henstridge under 17s driving session in June.

Solomon Chadwick

Solomon has enjoyed learning to gain more control of the car and cant wait to come back to practice some reversing. Solomon thinks this is a great place to start your driving lessons and will be recommending us to all his friends.

James Jackson

James has been to a few of the under 17 events now and is still enjoying himself, Today James has been practising his approach to turn corners.

The next session comprised of Nikita Adams 18 from Stalbridge, Sam Andrews 16 from Stalbridge and Jordan Summers 16 from Midsomer Norton

Nikita Adams

Nikita really enjoyed her driving lessons and loved being behind the wheel, she was really good at the emergency stop and also loved reversing and turn in the road.

Nikita thinks the venue is a good place for your first driving lesson especially if you are nervous because you feel so much safer driving in the airfield without to much traffic.

Sam Adams

Sam thinks the best part of today was working his way up through the gears and building up his speed, he also enjoyed learning how to parallel park.

Sam cant wait to come again and will be telling all his friends about it.

Jordon Summers

Jordon had a blast today and really enjoyed expanding his skills and improving his driving.The best part was improving on his clutch control and having better control of the car.

Jordan says the venue is great and thinks its a really good place to learn to drive.

Last pupil of the day was Leighton Teasdale 16 from Sturminster Newton in Dorset.

Leighton really enjoyed learning how to perform the emergency stop and will be telling his friends about his progress here today.

These under 17s driving events are held every month at Henstridge Airfield and are open to anyone aged 12 and over that meet the minimum height of 4ft 8ins tall. These sessions always sell out fast so early booking is recommended.

Alternative Under 17s driving lessons take place at Salisbury Park & Ride and Weymouth Park & Ride at different times in the month but always on a Sunday.
